We all know that lip balms are a staple of many skincare routines, but did you know that balms can be used all over the body? Your skin can reap the same benefits your lips do when applying a balm and, with winter fast approaching, it’s important to keep as much moisture locked into your skin as possible.
Balms are a concentrated salve that intensely seal in as much moisture as possible, preserving those all-important natural oils your skin produces on a daily basis.
Here are six reasons why you should try balms to keep your skin silky and nourished.
Known as occlusives, balms are a type of moisturiser that prevents moisture from escaping rather than producing it. They act as a physical barrier, keeping your skin's natural oils (and any lotion you've applied recently) contained in your epidermis.
A balm is a product worth investing in as it will last you a long time. In fact, half a pea-sized amount of balm will cover your entire face, and preserve any other moisturisers you’ve previously used on your skin.
Balms don't require any water because they trap moisture. That's a good thing, because water-based treatments (such as creams and lotions) require preservatives to keep mould and bacteria at bay. With oil-based balms, you won't have to worry about any of that.
Tins or tubs of balm are the perfect travel companion. As they’re not liquid, you’ll have no problem getting them through airport security - a winner for keeping your skin hydrated while travelling.
All of our balms contain a blend of CBD oil and Manuka honey, both of which could help to restore moisture while also providing nutritious vitamins and important fatty acids. Manuka honey has been used as a natural inflammatory ingredient for centuries, reducing redness and healing dry skin, as well as smelling absolutely divine! Simply remove the top of the tin and rub the surface with your fingers. The heat from your hands will melt a small amount of balm onto your fingertips, which you can then apply a little at a time to any sore spots.
This method is great for applying balm to bigger regions or for treatments that require a more intensive solution. Simply dig out a chunk of balm with your thumbnail or cosmetic brush, liquefy it between your hands, and apply it wherever you need it.
